About the Role & Company

We are seeking an experienced, results-oriented Survey Project Manager responsible for the comprehensive management of Survey projects, ensuring the highest-quality work and profitability. This person is critical to developing and maintaining client relationships and managing all financial, technical, and personnel aspects of the work.

 

This is a key leadership position that coordinates with internal teams, field crews, and external stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage all Survey projects, including proposal writing, meeting schedules, controlling profitability, and ensuring the quality of the work.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and collect accounts receivable (a/r's).
  • Direct project efforts, assign the project team, control project performance, and coordinate communications within the company and to outside stakeholders.
  • Monitor and process financial information, including performing monthly prebill reconciliation and assisting accounting with monthly billing.
  • Coordinate with state and local municipalities to obtain proper certifications and permits for work in their jurisdictions.
  • Recruit, hire, manage, mentor, and retain staff necessary to maintain and/or improve the ability to produce a quality work product.
  • Provide oversight and monitor surveying activities to ensure assignments meet performance goals, and train survey technicians in the theory of surveying and practical application of methods.
  • Coordinate with other managers on weekly scheduling and manage sub-consultants.
  • Perform business development activities to generate new work.
  • Follow all company QA/QC procedures and safety standards.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Candidates must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

  • Frequent sitting for extended periods while performing management, administrative, and financial work.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work is performed primarily indoors in a professional office environment, with necessary time spent traveling to client sites or project locations as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Survey Engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum.
  • PLS or LSIT licensure is preferred. Applicants are encouraged to seek licensure at the earliest opportunity and in multiple states.
  • At a minimum, 2 years of experience in Survey Project Management is preferred.
  • Must have experience in supervising multiple Survey crews.
  • Must be willing to perform business development to generate new work.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills, good negotiation skills, and good engineering technical skills.
  • Must be results-oriented, decisive, take charge, persuasive, adapt to change, self-directed, self-reliant, and understand the big picture.
  • Must understand financial metrics and be able to perform monthly prebill reconciliation.
  • Mandatory: Valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and comprehensive background check, including a 7-year criminal history check.
