About the Role & Company
Patriot Surveying & Infrastructure is seeking a detail-oriented Geospatial Technician to join our reality capture and 3D modeling team. This role is responsible for the technical implementation of reality capture technologies, such as Terrestrial Mobile and UAV LiDAR platforms, as well as various processing and extraction software to deliver high-quality survey data for our infrastructure projects. This position may require field and/or office visits depending on project needs and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Acquisition & Operations: Lead the setup and operation of reality capture equipment, including terrestrial laser scanners and LiDAR sensors, to ensure accurate field data collection.
- Geospatial Data Processing: Assist with the processing of captured data using software such as Register 360, ReCap, and Trimble Business Center to produce point clouds and 3D models.
- Design & Documentation: Utilize Civil 3D to develop technical deliverables, including surfaces, linework, and annotated project documentation.
- Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of all geospatial data, meeting industry standards and client requirements.
- Technology Integration: Stay updated on advancements in LiDAR, GIS, and reality capture tools to enhance our firm's technical capabilities.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to operate field equipment in various environmental conditions during data acquisition phases.
- Frequent standing and walking on construction sites or uneven terrain when performing terrestrial scans.
- Capacity to lift and carry precision scanning equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of field acquisition and 2 years of office data extraction experience specifically focused on LiDAR technologies, as it applies to land surveying.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expert knowledge of Geospatial, GIS, and LiDAR workflows.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Bluebeam for drafting and document management.
- Experience with data capture and processing software such as Leica Register 360, Autodesk ReCap, and LP360.
- Preferred Skills: UAS/Drone Pilot certification (Part 107) and experience in aerial data capture.
- Familiarity with geospatial data formats (LLGS, LAS, LAZ, E57) and complex coordinate systems.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and 7-year criminal history check.
